This multi-faceted tower mirrors the modern city skyline and reflects the stunning views of majestic mountains and verdant hills revealed in every direction. The BLOCK 216 Project (Ritz Carlton – Portland) constructed a new 35-story high-rise consisting of retail, office, 5-Star hotel, condominiums, amenity spaces, and 5 levels of below grade parking located in downtown Portland, Oregon. The 7-story “Podium” for the tower was a full city block and the “tower” portion, consuming a half block, reaches upward to a height of 460 feet.
Breaking ground in July of 2019, highlights of the architectural plan were the 132 luxury residences and penthouses, 251 themed 5-Star hotel rooms and suites, grand ballroom, junior ballroom, grand staircase and lounge, lobby bar, corporate meeting rooms, forest hall, porte cochere parking entry, owner’s lounge, Ritz-Carlton spa, hidden lake infinity pool, Ritz-Carlton club lounge, fitness center, and Bellpine restaurant.
WPI supported the LEED Gold certified construction by supplying and installing spray applied fireproofing, light gauge framing, insulation, drywall, drywall finishes, plaster assemblies, acoustical ceiling assemblies, and wood ceilings. WPI excelled within the demanding finish expectations of the Project Design Team, delivering the highest quality finishes possible for the drywall, plaster and various specialty ceiling assemblies on display throughout the amenity spaces, guest rooms, and condos.
WPI partnered with the other construction trades to persevere through the challenges of supply chain disruptions, worker availability limitations, and other COVID-19 impacts faced by our industry.
Peaking at over 180 WPI workers onsite during construction, WPI’s onsite leadership team seamlessly delivered materials, managed access equipment, and the tools necessary to deliver the job per the project schedule while maintaining worker safety and the highest levels of workmanship.
Scopes: Light-gauge metal framing, fireproofing, insulation, drywall, plaster assemblies, ACT/wood ceilings.
