Regions We Serve

Fireproofing

Fireproofing can be complex, but our team is here to help you choose the best system for your project. Scroll down to learn more about the services we offer.

Spray-applied Fire Resistive Material

Cementitious Fireproofing

Spray-applied fire resistive material (SFRM) is composed of cement or gypsum and often contains other materials such as mineral wool, quartz, perlite or vermiculite. This system is primarily used to protect rigid structural elements like beams, columns, metal decking and some steel joists. Its application largely depends on how the building will be used or the area it’s being applied and is often used in areas that won’t be visible to the public due to its industrial aesthetic. Our team members are experts in their field and follow all guidelines set by the International Building Code and UL Fire Resistance Directory to comply with all hourly ratings needed on your project.

Intumescent Fire Resistive Material

When aesthetics matter

Intumescent fire resistive material (IFRM) is a lightweight, paint-like substance applied to rigid structural elements just like SFRM, but it is frequently used in areas where aesthetics matter due to it looking very similar to traditional paint. Unlike SFRM, IFRM thickness requirements are much lower. This is because the intumescent coating swells up to 100 times its initial thickness when subjected to the heat of a fire. This process is known as sublimation, which creates an insulating, carbonaceous char layer that protects the substrate from extreme heat. Intumescent can be used on the interior or exterior of buildings. Pre-spraying intumescent in our prefabrication facility is another great advantage for this product, ensuring we avoid weather delays and reduce jobsite clutter.

K-13

Thermal & Acoustic Insulation

K-13 is a spray-applied thermal and acoustic insulation typically used in gathering spaces where acoustics and aesthetics are the main priorities. It’s a very dynamic product thanks to its combination of cellulose fibers and fire retardants that create excellent sound absorption and thermal control. K-13 does not require a smooth surface to be applied and can fill in voids such as cracks and seams. It comes in a variety of colors such as black, white, brown, purple, yellow and red, so it’s the perfect option when trying to nail a specific look.

Rigid Board Fire Protection

SFRM Alternative

Certain conditions can make any sort of sprayed material an impossible or extremely difficult option. The good news is rigid board fire protection is a great alternative when these circumstances arise. Our team will assess every detail and variable when estimating your project and determine if the use of a rigid board application will be necessary or beneficial. Rigid board applications offer some great advantages as well. Because they’re made of inorganic materials, they inhibit fungal and mold growth and don’t have any sort of temperature restrictions when installing.
