Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts

Overview

The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts or PRAx is a 49,000 SF arts center at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. This artfully designed building houses a large recital hall, art gallery venue, black box theater, and a student heart center.

Our Work

Scopes: Drywall, Light-gauge Metal Framing, Insulation, Firestopping, Air/Weather Barrier, ACT. Fireproofing, Wood Framing.

Our team played a large part in the construction of this project, including custom features throughout the building. The PRAx is is two stories of metal-framed exterior with both wood siding and brick veneer attached to the framing. In addition to the wall finishes our team installed custom ceilings throughout the building. This included wood grille ceiling panels throughout the main entrance and lobby areas, tongue and groove wood planks at the building’s “Oculus” window in the art gallery, and radial wooden acoustic panels in the theater.

Result

Whether it was working with the design team to build complex angled walls and ceilings, or working with other trades to meet and exceed tight schedules, the PRAx had no shortage of challenges. Overcoming these challenges led to an extremely rewarding experience for our team and one they were proud to be part of. This project will impact the lives of students, staff, and the city of Corvallis for years to come and WPI is thrilled to have contributed.
