Building Cure is a 17-story, 500,000sf research campus expansion for Children’s Hospital and The Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI). The buildings main function is to facilitate research for pediatric medicine, which will help save children’s lives. WPI completed this project partnered with Lease Crutcher Lewis as the general contractor.
The facility is unique in many ways. It houses an active vivarium, multiple laboratories, an auditorium, meeting rooms and office spaces that host a workforce of approximately 1,900 personnel. One of the highlight areas is the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) space called the Cure Factory™. This facility was designed to focus on transforming laboratory discoveries into viable treatments for curing childhood diseases. The Building Cure also includes multiple education areas such as the “Science Discovery Lab”. A special state-of-the-art laboratory designed to be a next generation science classroom. The Science Discovery Lab will be able to share innovative curriculum to touring high school students. The overall goal of this space is to encourage young students to pursue education in the STEM career fields.
WPI was proud to take part in the construction of this incredible building that will play a part in saving children’s lives.
