WPI collaborated with Mortenson Construction to construct a brand-new start for Clark College. WPI and Mortenson established early on a bold and ambitious goal to make this project more than just another construction site, but an opportunity to include our community to a greater degree; to learn, collaborate, and grow. WPI took this goal to heart and worked tirelessly to fulfill the intent of these goals. The exterior of the Clark College AMC was hand built and prefabricated locally by WPI’s seasoned Union Carpenters and Apprentices starting in August 2023 with Steel Framing, Exterior Sheathing, and Weather Barrier. WPI coordinated our Exterior Panels with our fellow trade partners to create a plan that proved to be a benefit for not just WPI, but all the Trades involved. The interior finishes were built hand-in-hand with Native Works, an emerging Woman Owned Business that allowed us an opportunity to share our craftsmanship, expertise, and experiences and grow as trade partners. Drywall, Finishes, Specialty Acoustical Ceilings, and Wall Protections were put in place as a team, where our Union Journeymen and Apprentices from both companies were able to lead and mentor new scopes of work. WPI took great care in fostering a team of Carpenters, Insulators, Tapers, and Laborers local to the community that Clark College supports, knowing that they will take great pride in crafting a part of their own growing community and create a personal touch for all to take have a place of belonging.
The Clark College AMC Project proved a challenging opportunity that WPI’s team took in stride, and work with Mortenson, Native Works, and all the trades on site to create an experience and a new campus that we have all learned and grown from. The challenges presented here allowed WPI’s team to develop new practices, new experiences, and stronger relationships.
“To cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and vibrant community, Clark College educates, empowers, and elevates individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals.”
