With over 80,000 veterans living in Northern Nevada, a need for a local skilled care and nursing home facility has become a growing demand in the region. Many veterans with specialty needs in Northern Nevada have been sent to facilities that are often out of state for treatment and care. In response to the growing need, legislation was passed in 2017 to build a new facility in Sparks, NV to help service the veterans in the region. The facility hosts 96 bedrooms broken up into 6 households of 16 residents. The design of the building is to make each resident area to feel like a home with the bedrooms surrounding a communal space with a kitchen, living room, and den shared by all 16 residents.

The community also features a “Town Hall” area for the residents with a restaurant, coffee bistro, sports bar, therapy gym,  beauty/barber shop, general store, and military parade ground for ceremonies. This “Town Hall” setting is designed to give the veterans a gathering place that will feel like a real community.

WPI was honored to contribute to this beautiful newly constructed veteran community project by completing the framing, drywall, EIFS, Acoustical ceilings, and painting. We hope that it will serve the veterans, their spouses, and the Gold Star families of Northern Nevada for years to come.
