Job Description

The Construction Estimator is accountable for plan takeoffs, setting estimated costs, and preparing project bids and budgets. This position is also required to estimate a project by collecting proposals, blueprints, specifications, and associated records. The Estimator will coordinate with our specific trade departments to produce cost estimates and proposals.

  • Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
  • Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects.
  • Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure project team members are aware of these items.
  • Working with our other departments, put together complete estimates.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bid forms, and other paperwork to prepare detailed proposals.
  • Use mathematical algorithms to calculate the amount of material required.
  • Communicates with the client during the bidding phase and on any modifications of a project.
  • Functions as support for project management throughout the beginning stage to explain any problems in the budget.
  • Assess budget and plan profitability status and objectives.
  • Ask feedback on corrective actions to enhance the continuous identification and reliability of cost figures.
  • Thoroughly analyze different areas of a project to collect relevant data.
  • Support and visit assigned job sites, participate in, and conduct job meetings as required.

 

Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • Background in business, math, accounting or general cost estimation preferred.
  • Must be local to office in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to analyze and process key information, recognize critical areas on the job that could impact profitability, and then actively navigate the project away from risks and liabilities for a successful outcome.
  • Understand field productivity, as well as material and equipment costs.
  • A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills is required.
  • Strong math skills are required.
  • Ability to work in team environment is required.
  • Strong customer service skills are required.

  • Prepare RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Price change requests and update the budget promptly.
  • Review the weekly job cost report with the project Foreman and team.
  • Prepare billings and approve invoices for payment.
  • Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate warranties, O&M’s, and closeout on projects.
  • Complete and be accountable for the job cost control measures through monthly Financial Projections on assigned projects.
  • Provides project team leadership throughout construction project development

Job Description

The Jr. Construction Estimator is responsible for assisting the Estimating Team on plan takeoffs, understanding estimated costs and preparing project bids and budgets under the guidance of a Senior Estimator. This role is also required to review project proposals, blueprints, specifications, and associated records. The Jr. Estimator will coordinate with WPI specific trade departments to produce accurate cost estimates and proposals.

  • Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
  • Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects.
  • Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure team members are aware of these items during bid time.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bid forms, General Contractor/Project specific front-end forms and other paperwork to prepare accurate detailed proposals.
  • Work with other WPI departments to put together complete multi-scope estimates.
  • Use mathematical algorithms to calculate labor, material, and equipment needs.
  • Communicate with the client during the bidding phase and on any modifications of a project.
  • Assist in ensuring all pertinent information during bid time is transferred to the project management team during Estimating Hand-Offs.
  • Functions as support for project management throughout the beginning stage to explain any possible problems or concerns in the budget.
  • Update daily the Estimating bid log of current, past and future projects and organize by priority. This log will include the schedules of these projects and may be split into multiple scopes.
  • Ensure Vendor Material Quotes are accurate and create a comparison list.
  • Ask feedback on corrective actions to enhance the continuous identification and reliability of cost figures.
  • Thoroughly analyze different areas of a project to collect relevant data.
  • Support and visit assigned job sites, participate in, and conduct job meetings as required.

Job Description

The Project Manager will oversee project operations at the Regional office  or Jobsite and accomplish project objectives by planning, scheduling, and executing project activities throughout each phase to completion.

  • Understand and comply with all WPI policies, procedures, and corporate safety program.
  • Actively participate in the safety plans and measures of the assigned projects.
  • Manage projects from start to finish.
  • Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure project team members are aware of these items.
  • Get material, subcontractor, and engineering quotes from at least three (3) separate vendors (project buyout).
  • Assist in selecting the vendors and coordinate materials and equipment.
  • Verify quantities, units, and hours in the reverse takeoff process.
  • Prepare RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Clear understanding of our building systems and how they relate to the building process.
  • Coordinate and develop construction project schedules.
  • Support the branch through positive customer relations and active participation in the Customer Alignment Plan.
  • Support and visit assigned job sites and participate in job meetings as required.
  • See to quantitative takeoffs to verify estimates, order materials and price change orders.
  • Price change requests and update the budget promptly.
  • Prepare, review, and report weekly productions.
  • Review the weekly job cost report with the project Foreman and team.
  • Prepare billings and approve invoices for payment.
  • Track progress and spending, ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Create and implement job schedules, coordinate with field supervisors and foremen and effectively communicate issues to negotiate the optimal position for our trade in the work sequence.
  • Perform labor control on assigned projects, including setup and maintenance; use this tool to make adjustments as necessary to maximize profits.
  • Coordinate warranties and O&M’s.
  • Complete and be accountable for the job cost control measures through monthly Financial Analysis Worksheets (FAW’s) on assigned projects.
  • Provides project team leadership throughout construction project development.

 

Requirements

Basic Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Construction Management work experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with estimating/project management/managing specialty scopes of construction.
