Steve Lichtenberg adds 30 years of construction management experience to the over 150 years of cumulative construction industry experience of the WPI Senior Management Team. Steve had very humble beginnings with WPI. His first job with WPI was in the summer of 1986 driving a truck and scrapping sheetrock on job sites. He then joined the local Plasterer’s Union and signed up for their Apprenticeship Program.
By 1990, Steve had achieved journeyman status and was developing his problem solving, pre-planning and leadership skills on major projects such as Nike World Campus, Intel D1B and D1C Fab, Intel RA1 and RA2 Office Buildings, Shriners Hospital, and several Portland Airport Terminal Expansion projects. In addition to those major undertakings, Steve also worked in a few other market sectors on jobs like the Oregon Museum of Science and Industries, OHSU (countless projects), Good Samaritan, Providence, and Emanuel Hospital expansions and remodel projects.
Steve eventually concluded his field career in 1997 and moved into the office to begin his new career as a Project Engineer. It was during this transition period that he had an opportunity to apply his field know-how to the development of a department focused specifically on sprayed fireproofing. The next eighteen years of efforts resulted in a respectable, highly efficient resource for WPI’s client base. Due to this success and Steve’s highly extensive knowledge of our Specialties, it seemed to be a natural fit to name him Vice President of Specialties for WPI.
If not at the office, Steve can probably be found at home continually upgrading his motorhome, remodeling his home or out camping with the family.
