The Valley View Middle School project was a “High End” 169,000 sf., steel framed Middle School building consisting of a three story Classroom Wing, a two story Gymnasium/Performing Arts Wing with 24 Classrooms, six Science Labs, a computer lab, a library among other amenities located a few miles south of Snohomish Washington. The cost per Square Foot on this project rivaled many University Lab Buildings. However, it is evident that this is a very high end middle school. The stairs in the Student Commons area had many design and dimensional issues that had to be overcome in order to achieve that Architectural “Intent”. WPI’s crews persevered through numerous obstacles to produce one of the finest most elegant Middle Schools in the Nation.
